Roslyn was founded in 1886 as a coal mining town, and is home to the oldest continuously operating tavern in the state of Washington. Founded in 1889 and rebuilt out of 45,000 bricks in 1898, it took the name “The Brick”. Roslyn is a very rural town that has an estimated population of 1017 residents, known more recently as the location for filming the TV series Northern Exposure. Ronald was also originally a mining town that is now an unincorporated recreational community with an estimated population of 265 residents.
